Are you our next Health and Safety Reliever? Are you ready to roll up your sleeves? Put on your wet weather gear and support our tamariki in all seasons, on the farm or in the bush? Keen to empower and ignite ākonga skills and passions? Do you love putting up tarps in all weathers, think on your feet to LEAD the Health and Safety on any given day? We work with fire, knives and other campcraft activities.

Mō te tūnga | About the role
This is an opportunity for a highly motivated and proactive person to be part of a growing and exciting network for this start-up and emerging social enterprise. Bush Farm Education is a truly special place. We teach strong socio-emotional skills in real-world settings, using our local Bush Farm programme content. Our learning environments are small, with a 1:8 ratio and up to 24 in one class.
Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience
To be considered for this position, you will have/ hold:
A relevant degree or professional qualification or at least 4 years of experience working in the outdoors
Proven experience (at least three years) in group management in the outdoors, preferably with tamariki (4.5 - 13 years old)
Ability to mentor in bushcraft with a genuine fun "can-do" attitude.
Comprehensive First Aid/ Pre hospital health care
Think on your feet, with attention to detail
Be empathetic and respectful, and deliver excellent customer service
Excellent problem-solving, record-keeping and time-management skills
Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as part of a team
Have a commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
Commitment to ecologically conscious living
Full New Zealand Drivers Licence and access to a car, laptop and internet
It would be advantageous if you have the following:
- Personal experiences in ‘living off the land’ and resourcefulness.
- Understanding of Te Whare Tapa Whā
- Personal artistic skills: singing voice, handicraft skills
- Organic/ regenerative agriculture skills and animal husbandry

The is a casual contractor role from August 2022. The days of the week are Wednesday (6-8 hours) or Thursday (8-10 hours). The hourly rate will be in the range of $30 - $40 depending on skills and experience. The contractor must comply with legislation including managing own tax, ACC etc, and is required to undergo a police vet.
