Reliever Teacher wanted

This is an opportunity for a highly motivated and proactive person to be part of a growing and exciting network for this start-up and emerging social enterprise. Bush Farm Education is a truly special place. We teach strong socio-emotional skills in real-world settings, using our local Bush Farm programme content. Our learning environments are small, with a 1:8 ratio and up to 24 in one class.

To be considered for this position, you will have/ hold:

  • Be a registered teacher (ECE, Primary or Secondary)

  • At least three years of mentoring tamariki (4.5 – 13 years old) – getting beside them and focusing on outdoor learning ( i.e.bushcraft, eco-literacy) with a genuine "can-do" attitude.

  • Think on your feet, with attention to detail

  • Be empathetic and respectful, and deliver excellent customer service.

  • Excellent problem-solving and time-management skills.

  • Good administrative and IT skills (with knowledge of Microsoft suite of products).

  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as part of a team.

  • Have a commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi

  • Commitment to ecologically conscious living

  • Current Comprehensive First Aid Certificate.

  • Full New Zealand driver's Licence and access to a car, laptop and internet.

It would be advantageous if you have any of the following:

- Personal experiences in ‘living off the land’ and resourcefulness.

- Understanding of Te Whare Tapa Whā

- Personal artistic skills: singing voice, handiwork skills, visual and performing arts

- Organic/ regenerative agriculture skills and animal husbandry

- Reggio, Montessori or Steiner background



The is a casual contractor role from August 2022. The days of the week are Wednesday (6-7 hours) or Thursday (8-10 hours). The hourly rate will be in the range of $30-$40 depending on skills and experience. The contractor must comply with legislation including managing own tax, ACC etc, and is required to undergo a police vet.
